your program fixed form fortran source, have in file suffix .f90. suffix used free-form sources. rename file suffix .f. option pass gfortran option -ffixed-form tells consider file in fixed-form regardless of file suffix.

be sure have line continuations $ @ sixth column, otherwise error.
