SQL Server 2014 Installs to windows partition, not D drive -

installing sql server 2014 on windows server 2012 r2 (vm). in feature selection page, can change instance root directory, shared feature directory, , shared feature directory (x86).

i've set install d:\program files, start checking features, disk space usage on primary os partition grows. instance features selected, i'm using 2.2 gb on d drive, , 676 mb on c drive... eh, fine, i'll live.

as start check shared features, drive usage on c grows faster on d. adding reporting services sharepoint, example, bumps c drive usage 1.75 gb (the d drive usage remains same). time i'm done picking features want, have 3.2 gb on c drive, , 2.8 gb on d drive!!

what gives?

i don't know happened guess can resolve below solution.
1- install vm d:drive
2- install sqlserver on vm disk. (d drive)
3- after install. stop sqlserver , deteach database
4- move database files (.mdf , .ldf) shared folder
5- attach database again
